On Tuesday, November 25, 2014, Embrace Relief and Raindrop Foundation aided State Senator Rodney Ellis in his “Fifth Annual Holiday Food Distribution”. The purpose of the food distribution, especially during this time of year, is to give thanks for our blessings and reach out to the community members in need. Along with Last Organic Outpost, Whole Foods Market, and the Pearland Farmers Market provides fresh produce, Raindrop Foundation and Embrace Relief provided over 400 pounds of Halal beef for area families in need. The event was hosted by the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation then following a distribution at the Kelly Village Community Building. The families who attended the food distribution were also provided with turkeys in addition to the produce and beef they received.
During the food distribution, Senator Rodney Ellis made important remarks regarding healthy eating and nutritional awareness in regards to reading food labeling. We were extremely humbled to be a part of such an amazing event, where many families who are not able to afford their own meal this holiday are provided with many items to make their Thanksgiving a special one. The food distribution became a major success in helping serve more than 60 families. The Raindrop Foundation and Embrace Relief would like to thank Senator Rodney Ellis for allowing us to participate in this wonderful event. We also would like to thank the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation for hosting the event at their center as well as all of the volunteers who helped make the food distribution a success!
