On November 10, 2014, The Raindrop Foundation and Embrace Relief teamed up to help provide lunch to the families of the Houston area Ronald McDonald House. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children. Upon being greeted by the very friendly staff, Raindrop Foundation and Embrace Relief began to set up the tables and serving area for the families to enjoy their meal. We were also welcomed by Colleen Dillahunty, the Family Activities Coordinator, who assisted us in the organization of the event.Once an announcement was made for the residents to head downstairs to have their lunch, we were able to serve and meet many of the children and families who call the Ronald McDonald House their home. After lunch, the children and staff were invited to participate in creating Ebru art, which is a traditional Turkish form of water marbling. Since this form of art was new to a lot of the participants, one of the members of Embrace Relief Organization was there to help guide them in creating their own unique Ebru painting.
It was very exciting to see many beautiful and unique paintings being made by the children and their families. The Raindrop Foundation and Embrace Relief would like to give a special thanks to ColleenDillahunty for allowing us the opportunity to give service at the Ronald McDonald House as well as engage in fun activities with the children. It was a joy to be able to put a smile on their wonderful faces and we look forward to participating again soon!
