Campaign story
Fethullah Gülen, a Turkish Islamic scholar, author and clerk, profoundly impacted the lives of millions, particularly youth, by inspiring them to pursue knowledge and help others. Born in 1938 in Erzurum, Turkey, Mr. Gulen dedicated his life to nurturing future generations through education by founding schools, and raising passionate individuals while fostering deep connections. His message led to the formation of the Hizmet (Service) Movement, which promotes interfaith, community service, and education worldwide.
Mr. Gülen was known for his heartfelt poetry and sincerity in truly recognizing the suffering of others, he would often advocate for the voiceless and oppressed. As California Girls, we are inspired by Mr. Gulen’s message and would like to establish a water well named Noor (Light) to honor his life. We hope to take this step to ensure his message of hope, kindness, and compassion continues to reach those in need and cultivating universal values.
May we live by these words, “Open your heart to everyone as much as you can. Open it so that those who come seeking coolness can be refreshed by the rivers of your love. Love everyone, so that those who do not know how to love may learn what love truly is. Let humanity understand once more that only those who overflow with love will build the happy and enlightened world of the future." – Fethullah Gulen
