COVID-19: We Are in This Together!
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives of millions around the world and almost every aspect of society. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) encourages everyone to self-isolate by staying home and limiting contact with the outside world. COVID-19 is the most serious health crisis in modern history infecting more people every day, leaving many in a state of limbo wondering when life will return to normal. Self-isolation can cause many people to feel lonely and detached from the world, but being alone together is what is bringing us all together right now. We are all facing this crisis together which is why we need to lend a helping hand and to support those around us more than ever before.
Unfortunately, many immigrants and asylum seekers don’t have the privilege of self-isolating since many are forced into overcrowded and unsanitary detention camps. Furthermore, many are losing their jobs, resulting in losing their homes and facing financial difficulties. These individuals are struggling to find ways to survive, and although this is a nerve-racking time, there has never been a need for people to stand together in the face of fear.
As we find a way to cope with this pandemic it is important to remember to look out for neighbors, friends, and families. During this time, we must remind ourselves how fortunate we are to be in a world full of technology where we can stay connected and help those in need. All citizens of the world must stand together by sticking up for those whose voices cannot be heard.
Our main goal at Embrace Relief is to help and maintain this form of unity and support from others around us in times of need. That’s why we have set up the COVID-19 Support for the U.S. campaign to support people who have lost their jobs with rent, utility, food, and medical expenses to individuals who are struggling during this unprecedented time.
