In the latest Haiti news, a devastating earthquake with a whopping magnitude of 7.2 struck the west of the North American country this past Saturday, August 14. Areas around Les Cayes and Jeremiah were hit especially hard, 1,200 people already confirmed dead, thousands injured and displaced, and authorities believe these figures will only increase. The Haiti earthquake is stronger than the one that resulted in 200,000 victims in January 2010 and is in the same region Hurricane Matthew caused serious destruction in 2016. Significant damage to homes and all infrastructure has been reported, resulting in many people currently without rooves and depending on emergency aid as soon as possible. Unfortunately, a tropical storm is also approaching and should reach Haiti imminently, which will greatly complicate relief operations.
Embrace Relief is partnering with Save Their Lives, which has an on-site team, to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
