Sudan is currently experiencing the world’s biggest displacement crisis. As of February 2024, nearly 11 million people have been uprooted from their homes, 25 million in need of food assistance, and 15,000 people killed. International aid organizations including the UN have described the situation as “absolutely catastrophic,” and an “epic suffering.” Amidst the suffering, there’s been a major shortage of aid, leaving the people of Sudan without food, clean water, or shelter, and living in constant fear for their lives. We desperately need your help to provide the care that the Sudanese people urgently need.
Sudan has been experiencing conflict since April 2023, when war broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The conflict has resulted in ethnic cleansing across the entire country. Soldiers are assaulting women and children, hunting fleeing men, looting homes, and burning down everything in their path. The RSF, who are responsible for many of these crimes against humanity, was formed from the remnants of the Janjaweed malitia, responsible for the Darfur Genocide in 2003.
My own family has had to experience the violence of both atrocities. I’ve lost siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles to both the genocide in 2003, and have continued to lose family members at a monthly rate over the past year. My remaining family members are now displaced to refugee camps within and outside of Sudan.
We ask you to have compassion for the people of Sudan as the war continues to rage on and the UN expects even more displacement over the next few months. Your donations will help provide essential resources to Sudanese families who have lost much of their livelihoods.
Become a donor, share the campaign with your friends and family, and spread awareness about the atrocities affectings the Sudanese people. Your contribution could change or even save the life of a Sudanese person in need.
