Hurricane Helene left a trail of destruction in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and elsewhere across the southeastern United States after making landfall in late September 2024.

The powerful Category 4 storm made landfall late Thursday night, Sept. 26, in northwestern Florida, and brought with it 140-mph winds, a devastating storm surge, flooding rains, and widespread tornadoes to the region. Large swathes of western North Carolina, including the city of Asheville, suffered once-in-a-century floods causing immense destruction. In total, at least 200 people died as a result of the storm, while millions were left without electricity and numerous critical roads and bridges remained closed for weeks following.

To meet the urgent needs of those affected by Hurricane Helene, Embrace Relief partnered with the Divan Center, a 501 (c) (3) charitable, cultural non-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to addressing the social, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the people living in North Carolina, to provide basic necessities including food and water. This fundraiser has now been completed.

Additionally, Embrace Relief is pleased to share news that it has made a $2,500 donation to the American Red Cross to support that organization's rebuilding efforts following Helene. Click here to read more about this gift.
