May Peace and Blessings be Upon You,
In his autobiograpy Malcolm X states," I don't think anybody ever got more out of going to prison than I did." As we are the proud Cohort 2 students of Northwestern's Prison Education Program(NPEP), this gold standard is championed by my beloved mother Yolanda Fields along with our beloved director Dr. Jennifer Lackey. They both challenge us to become elite, productive contributing members of society: to take the world by storm.
Sadly, our community recently lost one of its elite on Juneteenth 2024. Our beloved Michael Broadway was a brother, mentor, author and scholar who was one of the first incarcerated students to graduate from a top 10 university in 2023. Michael was such a loving, other-centered, brilliant bright light in our community. Michael must live on as we invite you to join us in celebrating his life along with the trail he blazed for our anticipated Cohort 2 graduating class of 2025 by empowering marginalized people in Africa through the restoration of a water well that will restore the flow of water for an entire community of 1000+ people in Chad. On behalf of the proud Cohort 2 students:
Jeffrey Campbell, Brian Dean, Mark Dixon, Edmund Duffin, Leon Fields, Brodrick Hollins, James Lenoire, Paul Madrowski, Todd Mandolini, Flynard Miller, Ramon Montague, Leon Robinson, Kevin Scott, Charles Serrano, Leshaun Smith and Brandon Wyatt
We thank you for your support and generosity.
Sincerely,
Cohort 2
We have achieved our goal for this campaign.
We appreciate your ongoing support.
