A powerful earthquake struck Afghanistan early Wednesday morning, June 22, killing at least 1,000 people and injuring more than 1,500. Even more people are missing, and officials expect the death toll to rise. In just a few minutes, tens of thousands of people lost their homes, their livelihoods, or their lives.
The earthquake is the deadliest to hit Afghanistan in more than two decades, and comes at a time when the war-torn country is facing an economic crisis and a severe food shortage.
Because of the scale of the destruction from this disaster, the people of Afghanistan need our support immediately. Embrace Relief is working with aid agencies in the country to deliver much-needed supplies to the people and communities hit hardest.
