The country of Mali – specifically the capital city of Bamako – is affected by several conditions that have made them lack access to quality healthcare or to any healthcare at all because of ethnic and political conflicts, severe weather conditions consisting of extremely hot and dry summers coupled with harsh dust, rainy seasons with torrential monsoons, and deadly but preventable illnesses and diseases such as cataract removal, malaria, and meningitis.
Embrace Relief has organized a project called “Mali Hospital Project” in partnership with Project C.U.R.E. to provide much needed medical supplies to Clinic Gaoussou Fofana and Clinic Planet Vision in Bamako, Mali. This was founded to provide efficient medical equipment in the hopes to strengthen a system of healthcare which is severely insufficient, and to allow thousands of Mali’s citizens to be cured of their illnesses and return to being productive members of society.
Clinic Gaoussou Fofana and Clinic Planet Vision have undergone extensive renovations to expand from two medical departments to six. These medical departments include but do not limit to ophthalmology, dentistry, gynecology, otolaryngology services (ear, throat, and nose), urology, and orthopedics.
The clinics still need the following equipment and more in order to finalize renovations:
- Phacoemulsification Machine (Used to perform cataract surgery)
- Operating Table
- Surgical Microscope
- Tonometer (Used to assess the health of eyes)
- Optical Coherence Tomography (Used to photograph the retina)
- Yag Laser (Used to treat eyes after cataract surgery)
- Anesthesia Machine
- Post-Mounted Lights
- Infant Ventilator
They need your help. With everything that’s been happening, they are still hoping that someone is looking out for them. And that can be YOU. The future depends on what you do today. With your donation, you can help millions of people have access to much-needed healthcare and improve their lives for years to come. The community will directly thrive and day by day build lives for themselves.
