Millions of children are growing up malnourished, resulting in severe challenges to their physical, mental and social development. Many more children and adults alike are threatened with starvation and death because they are unable to afford or access the food they need.
It doesn’t need to be this way. But we all must work together to ensure that all people have the food they need.

Since 2013, Embrace Relief has worked to ease hunger worldwide through our Hunger Relief program, which has distributed more than 1.5 million pounds of food to more than 5 million people in over 50 countries.
Our Hunger Relief distributions vary according to local needs, but typically take the form of food packages full of nutritious food and cooking materials, hand-delivered directly to people in need. A typical Embrace Relief package costs $50 and provides up to two weeks’ worth of food for a family of five – an invaluable gift for struggling families.

A Global Impact
Hunger knows no borders, and thus Embrace Relief is active in food distributions in dozens of countries at any given time. We are able to make a vital impact in these countries thanks to Embrace Relief’s international network of partner organizations and local civic and government leaders. Through them, we can identify vulnerable communities affected deeply by hunger.
In 2023, during our special month-long International Hunger Relief campaigns alone, we fed more than 150,000 people in countries spanning five continents:

Hunger Relief and the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Embrace Relief's Hunger Relief Program is designed in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs are a blueprint for achieving a peaceful, prosperous, equitable and sustainable future for all of humanity, and together the 17 goals serve as targets for worldwide cooperation to meet and overcome the greatest challenges we face. All of Embrace Relief's programs contribute to the realization of at least two SDGs.
We have provided food packages, meat packages, bread, and hot meals to more than 5 million people worldwide since 2013, reaching more than 50 countries.
By providing food directly to people, we address hunger and malnutrition and help to reduce health complications, increasing productivity and allowing children to remain in school.
Malnourishment causes stunted physical and emotional development in children. By providing food to children, we give them the chance to grow into healthy adults.
Global Hunger Facts
828 million:
The number of people worldwide living with chronic hunger, representing greater than 1 out of every 9 people in the world. Poverty and inequality are leading causes of hunger in every country, but conflict and climate change are key drivers as well.
148.1 million:
Children under the age of 5 who are malnourished worldwide. These children are at risk for stunting (low height for their age) or wasting (low weight for their height), both of which are closely linked with shortened life spans, poor long-term health outcomes, and social and economic difficulties.
45 percent:
The percentage of deaths in children under 5 that can be attributed to hunger and poor nutrition. This number represents more than 3 million children each year worldwide.
