As of right now, over 13,000 homes are completely obliterated, entire neighborhoods are under water, there are 7 confirmed deaths, and there are still many people missing and unaccounted for. The Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Hubert Minnis, expects these numbers will continue to rise in the coming days and weeks. Prime Minister Minnis estimates it will take hundreds of millions, if not billions, to restore and rebuild the Bahamas because there is nothing to salvage, they have to completely start over. The residents of the Bahamas are in desperate need of crucial humanitarian aid. More specifically, the United Nations estimates that approximately 61,000 people need food and clean drinking water. Furthermore, tens of thousands are in need of childcare items, toiletries, and other basic necessities such as medical attention and shelter. As of right now, there is no airport that can be reached and hospitals and clinics are virtually unusable. Embrace Relief is beginning a campaign to show Bahama that we are dedicated to spreading humanitarian aid where it is needed most by providing their most needed items right now – food and clean drinking water. More than physical support, this will also provide psychological support to survivors by knowing their global family has not forgotten them and is here to help. We wholeheartedly appreciate your generous donation and support to help the survivors of Hurricane Dorian rebuild their lives and land.Hurricane Dorian Disaster Relief
Hurricane Dorian hit landfall in the Bahamas on September 1st, 2019, as a devastating category 5 hurricane. Dorian came to a painfully slow crawl over the islands for two days, creeping at only 1mph, with winds reaching 180mph and wind gusts up to 220mph. This has been the strongest and most catastrophic hurricane that has reached Bahama’s shores in history, leaving behind unrecognizable islands.
