Embrace Relief Cataract Surgeries

Despite rich cultural heritage and vibrant communities, millions of people across sub-Saharan Africa suffer due to inadequate healthcare infrastructure and limited availability of essential medical services. This lack of access increases the spread of preventable diseases, increases maternal and child mortality rates, and perpetuates the cycle of poverty.

Embrace Relief is dedicated to bridging this gap by providing vital healthcare services, supporting local medical facilities, and advocating for sustainable health solutions to ensure every individual has the opportunity to lead a healthy and productive life.

We achieve our mission by partnering with local medical clinics and deploying Mobile Health Clinics. Embrace Relief’s Mobile Clinics are equipped to operate as standard clinics and travel up to 9 hours from a city center, providing healthcare to those in even the most remote regions.

Cataract Country Flag

A cataract is a progressive eye disease that, if not treated, causes blurry vision and eventually complete blindness. This preventable and treatable eye disease is the leading cause of blindness in Africa and is caused by extreme heat, excessive dust, intense labor, malnutrition, and lack of access to health services.

Preventative Health

Cataract Country Flag

Medical intervention and prevention save lives, yet millions of people struggle to access basic services and fail to receive health education. Embrace Relief addresses healthcare inequalities by providing free comprehensive preventative health screenings and basic medicines. Basic medicines include antibiotics, eye drops, and anti-inflammatories. Anyone can walk into the clinics we support and request a free health checkup.

A health checkup includes a general physical:

  • Height/weight/age
  • Vital signs
  • Blood pressure, heart rate, temperature
  • Abdominal examination
  • Head and neck examination to check lymph nodes, tonsils, and thyroid
  • Eye examination

These preventative measures can save lives through early detection of illness or disease. The survival rate drastically increases the earlier an illness/disease is identified because doctors can start an immediate care plan. If our clinic is not equipped to treat the patient, staff assist in arranging the necessary appointments at facilities where they can receive care.
