In preparation of World Hunger Day 2019, Embrace Relief is proud to announce that thanks to its supporters and volunteers, the organization was able to distribute 3,500 food packs to the hungry in Africa, Greece and even the United States. Your hard work has kept Embrace Relief in line with the ideals and initiatives of The Hunger Project, particularly those established in World Hunger Day.The Hunger Project, the organization heading World Hunger Day, was founded in 1977. On its website, it describes itself as a strategic organization, that has reinvented itself repeatedly to continually meet new challenges in the fight against hunger.(1) First held on May 28, 2010, World Hunger Day is designed to raise awareness of the approximately 815 million people worldwide experiencing chronic hunger. Furthermore, it seeks to celebrate sustainable solutions to hunger and poverty.(2)Like The Hunger Project, Embrace Relief knows that resolving hunger and poverty lie at the heart of improving employment opportunities, health, education, social justice, the rights of women and girls, the environment and climate change. In this way, both organizations are aligned with achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goals 1-5, 8, 10, 13 and 16. These goals are No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health/Well-Being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work/Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, Climate Action and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, respectively. The hard work of Embrace Relief’s volunteers and donors has been invaluable, without which Embrace Relief would be unable to participate in this or any hunger relief initiatives. As such, the organization asks its followers to continue their support. All of your contributions bring us closer to realize a fuller and more equal world.
