CLEAN WATER

Water is the foundation of life. Although clean water is a fundamental human right, more than 2.2 billion people worldwide still lack access to this precious life-sustaining resource. In sub-Saharan Africa, women and young girls are responsible for collecting water in 8 out of 10 households and must walk up to 6 kilometers every day. Collectively, women and girls spend 200 million hours collecting water for their families every day. That’s 8.3 million days' worth of time and effort that could be spent more productively! By bringing water closer to them, we can allow millions of girls in Africa to avoid the long, daily journeys that keep them out of school and leave them more vulnerable to gender-based violence, including sexual assault.
