On 26 August 2026, a catastrophic flash flood struck northern Nepal, beginning in the Rasuwa region along the Bhote Koshi River following a sudden surge of water from the Tibet side. The disaster has caused widespread destruction across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and downstream districts, damaging homes, roads, bridges, markets and essential infrastructure.
