Embrace Relief Empower Women R.I.S.E

Welcome to R.I.S.E.

Since 2021, Embrace Relief has hosted the Reach Inspire Support Educate (R.I.S.E.) Program—a transformative initiative empowering women in Tanzania through education and leadership. In Tanzania, 61% of teenage girls are not enrolled in school, and women hold only 19% of school leadership positions. These statistics reflect deep-rooted gender disparities in access to education and professional opportunities. The R.I.S.E. Program addresses these gaps by providing a unique opportunity for female teachers to advance their careers and become leaders in education. By investing in the education of female teachers, we are not only improving their personal and professional lives but also fostering a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for future generations.

How R.I.S.E. Works:

Educational Path

The R.I.S.E. Program supports female teachers in becoming school administrators or supervisors through a comprehensive two-year program.

Diploma Programs

Participants earn Diplomas in Education Management and Administration (DEMA) or School Quality Assurance (DSQI) from ADEM in Tanzania. These diplomas are designed to provide in-depth training in educational leadership and quality assurance, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to take on significant responsibilities in their schools and communities.

Financial Assistance

R.I.S.E. provides full financial support, covering tuition and study materials. This financial assistance removes the economic barriers that often prevent women from pursuing advanced education and leadership training, allowing them to focus entirely on their studies and professional development.

Embrace Relief Empower Women Graduate Success Stories

Challenge was the college fee. But you give us the scholarship and take away the problem.

—Ms. Domila Plasid, a 2023 R.I.S.E. Graduate

The first class of 24 female teachers graduated from the R.I.S.E. program in August 2023, and the second class of 24 teachers will be graduating in August 2025. Our graduates have reported improved leadership, conflict resolution, and teaching skills, which have allowed them to make a greater impact in schools across Tanzania. This program has not only raised self-confidence among female school teachers and fostered trust in women’s leadership but also turned these graduates into role models for young schoolgirls.

Meet our upcoming 2025 graduates, who share their transformative experiences with the R.I.S.E. Program:
