Embrace Relief and USA for UNHCR cash assistance for Lebanon
The escalation of violence in Lebanon in fall 2024 caused widespread displacement. Families lost access to shelter, food, health care and other essentials, while children, older adults and people with medical conditions faced heightened risk.
Embrace Relief partnered with USA for UNHCR, the national partner of the UN Refugee Agency, to provide direct Zakat-eligible cash assistance to displaced and refugee families.
Who the program supports
The program was designed to support 200 eligible refugee families for five months. Families are selected based on greatest need, including poverty level, ability to work and number of dependents.
How assistance reaches families
Eligible families receive prepaid cards distributed through UNHCR partners. Families can use the support for food, health care, medication and shelter needs, preserving dignity and allowing each household to address its most urgent priorities.
One hundred percent of Zakat-compliant donations to this campaign are designated for families through UNHCR's Refugee Zakat Fund.
