Monsoon season in Pakistan has become ever more dangerous in recent years, as climate change continues to make these torrential rainstorms less predictable and more intense. In parts of mountainous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earlier this month, observers recorded storms that dropped up to 6 inches of rain in just one hour, washing away crops, roads and buildings and cutting off thousands of families from basic necessities like food, water, and hygiene.
Severe weather is expected to continue into September, threatening more lives and livelihoods and causing greater havoc to those already displaced.
Relief efforts are underway, but the scale of devastation requires immediate and sustained support. Quick action can make an enormous difference in life-and-death situations – and that is why Embrace Relief is partnering with the Shibli Trust, a Pakistan-based community and social welfare organization, to aid affected communities.
