Refugee Assistance Fundraiser 2024 - Wellspring Community Center

Life as a refugee can be lonely, difficult, and dangerous. This is particularly true for many of the thousands of Turkish refugees who have fled to neighboring Greece in recent years, searching for their freedom. Most arrive with nothing. They must immediately confront the challenges of earning income and finding a place to live, without any support from the government or the community-at-large. Many report feeling scared, abandoned, vulnerable.

But they are not alone if we stand together with them. This is why Wellspring Community Center Connecticut is partnering with Embrace Relief to provide temporary housing to refugee families in Greece! Our fundraiser seeks to take care of housing costs for multiple families, removing one of the biggest obstacles for refugees to live freely, securely, and safely. When refugees have a stable place to live, they can retake control of their lives and determine their own futures, whether it be remaining in Greece or emigrating to a new destination.

But this fundraiser will also do more than cover housing costs for our brave friends: it will let them know that they are not alone. Your donation sends a message that refugee families are a part of our community, and we will support them as they rebuild their lives.
