Campaign story
On Sunday, January 9, 2022, a devastating fire tore through shelters made of bamboo and tarpaulin in a Rohingya refugee camp in southeastern Bangladesh. Specifically, the border district of Cox’s Bazar. The result is around 1,200 houses burnt, leaving more than 5,000 Rohingya homeless. The cause of the fire is unknown, but the horrendous devastation is very clear.
In 2017, around 850,000 Rohingya fled to the camp from Myanmar. Bangladesh has been very gracious in taking in these refugees, but has unfortunately had difficulty finding them permanent homes.
We are providing tents at $60 a piece for the 700 families who lost their tents due to the fire, as well as food packages for $25 a piece. So, please consider donating today to help us provide those struggling in the wake of the fire with both the means of survival and hope for a brighter future.
