About this campaign
Life as a refugee can be lonely, difficult, and dangerous. This is particularly true for many of the thousands of Turkish refugees who have fled to neighboring Greece in recent years, searching for their freedom. These brave souls have left their entire lives behind them, arriving in Greece without money, a job, or a place to live. Many refugees report feeling scared, abandoned, vulnerable, and alone.
But they are not alone if we stand together with them. This is why the Turkish Cultural Center Rochester, Rise Center, Buffalo UP United For Peace and Peace Island Institute are partnering with Embrace Relief to cover the cost of housing for two refugee families in Greece for an entire year! Finding a suitable place to live is one of the biggest challenges for refugees to live, free, secure and stable lives. By coming together to help our refugee friends in Greece, we can empower them to rebuild their lives.
But this fundraiser will also do more than cover housing costs for our friends: it will let them know that they are not alone. Your donation sends a message that refugee families are a part of our community, and we will support them as they rebuild their lives.
